Author of Call Sign: Blackjack – Escape from Hanoi
William Tyler

William Tyler is a Vietnam-era U.S. Navy veteran whose military experience helps bring authenticity to his writing. He served aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Decatur during the Vietnam War, working with the ship's fire-control computers and radar systems.

His experiences in the Navy—and his lifelong interest in aviation, history, and technology—provide the foundation for the world of Call Sign: Blackjack – Escape from Hanoi. Although the novel is fiction, its ships, aircraft, military operations, and the atmosphere of the Vietnam War are grounded in the experiences and research of someone who lived during that era.

After leaving the Navy, Tyler obtained a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, then went on to work in technology and at NASA. He now writes from the Pacific Northwest, drawing on a lifetime of experiences to create stories about ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances.
